Cello Ensembles - Terms & Conditions

Melbourne Community Cellists – Terms and Conditions

By enrolling in Melbourne Community Cellists, members agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

1. Enrolment and Commitment

  • Rehearsals run year-round and are payable on a term-by-term basis.

  • Each term consists of 8 weeks. Terms 1, 2, and 3 include an Open Rehearsal Day (usually Week 7). Term 4 concludes with the End-of-Year Concert.

  • Enrolment is possible at any point during the year, but members are encouraged to join before the start of a term to participate in all rehearsals.

  • Registration for the term is confirmed only when payment of the term invoice has been received.

2. Fees and Invoicing

  • Continuing members will receive invoices approximately 2–3 weeks before the next term.

  • Enrolment fees must be paid prior to the first rehearsal to secure your place in the ensemble.

  • New music for the term will be distributed once invoices have been paid.

3. Rehearsals and Attendance

  • Each rehearsal is scheduled for 60 minutes. Members are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow for setup and a prompt start.

  • Regular private lessons are encouraged for intermediate players to maintain technique.

  • It is assumed that members of the Adult Beginners and Junior Kids Ensembles are undertaking regular private lessons to build the necessary skills for ensemble participation.

  • Missed rehearsals are non-refundable. In exceptional circumstances—such as an absence of three (3) or more consecutive weeks—partial refunds may be considered if discussed with adequate notice.

  • If the director (Sharon) is unwell or otherwise unavailable, members will be notified as soon as possible. The rehearsal will either be rescheduled or the fee for that rehearsal will be credited toward the following term.

4. Communication

  • Email and WhatsApp are the primary means of communication. Members must provide current contact details when enrolling.

  • Any changes to important dates will be communicated via email or group message.

  • Current rehearsal and event dates are available on our website at melbournecommunitycellists.com.au.

5. Behaviour and Conduct

  • Respectful behaviour is required at all times. Rude or disruptive conduct will not be tolerated.

  • Food and drink (except water bottles) are not permitted in the rehearsal space.

  • Children, siblings, friends, and family members who are not part of the ensemble must remain outside the rehearsal space during sessions.

6. Photography and Media

  • Occasional photographs and videos may be taken during rehearsals or concerts for promotional or social media use.

  • Members who do not wish to be photographed or videoed should note this request in the additional comments section of the registration form.

7. Risk and Liability

  • Participation in rehearsals and concerts occurs in public spaces and may involve unforeseen risks, including personal injury or damage to personal property.

  • By enrolling (or by enrolling a child under 18), members acknowledge these risks and voluntarily assume responsibility for their own participation or that of their child.
